21:00: Departure – Goodbye Sapa
The bus departs Sapa. The first hour involves a winding drive down the Hoang Lien Son mountain pass to Lao Cai City. The view of the night valley is mysterious, but if you suffer from motion sickness, it is best to take medication now and try to sleep.
23:30 & 03:00: Highway Rest Stops
We travel on the smooth Hanoi – Lao Cai Highway. The bus will make 2 scheduled stops (15-20 minutes each) for passengers to use the restroom, smoke, or buy late-night snacks/drinks.
06:00: Sunrise over the Ocean

The journey takes approximately 11 hours, covering the route through Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Hanoi, and Hai Phong before reaching the island.
